Blepharoplasty, Eyelid Surgery

When your eyes have bags under them or the skin on the upper lid droops, you may look tired and older. Eye bags can occur at any age due to genetics; sagging skin and muscle around the eye is one of the first signs of aging. These changes in the eye area can affect how you appear to others, both in age and in vigor. Blepharoplasty, or eyelid lift surgery, can alleviate changes around your eyes to give you a more youthful, vibrant appearance.

If you live in Marietta, excellence in facial plastic surgery like blepharoplasty is not far away. Dr. Benjamin Stong of Kalos Facial Plastic Surgery, LLC, in Atlanta offers several types of eyelid surgeries among his many cosmetic procedures. Dr. Stong is a dual board certified plastic surgeon, with extensive experience and training in his field. His expertise and unique artistic eye for detail ensure that his patients get the best results from their procedures, including blepharoplasty.

Blepharoplasty is a group of different surgeries that can be done to transform the eye area. These include lower eyelid lifts, upper lid lifts, fat transposition and transconjunctival lower blepharoplasty. Each can address a specific issue. Some people may have only one procedure performed, while others may have a combination of two to three different eyelid changes made. These changes are very small and precise, but they can make a large difference in the overall appearance of the face.

Benefits of Eyelid Lift Surgery

For many, eyelid lifts are sought to remove lines, wrinkles and sagging skin that can make the person look older. For others, the benefit lies in reducing a tired look that can accompany deep bags under the eye or drooping skin on the upper eyelid. The shape and appearance of the eye due to sagging skin and muscle can make a person look sad or even angry. Blepharoplasty can have the benefit of removing these issues.

Upper eyelid lifts are a fairly simple surgery and a quick fix for tired eyes. A tiny incision is made in the crease of the upper lid so the scar is hidden. Dr. Stong removes excess skin and closes the incision, tightening the skin on the upper lid. Eyes can look more open, less tired and create a more youthful appearance.

Lower eyelid lifts come in a few forms. For those with only bags or puffiness under the eye, usually younger patients, a transconjunctival lower blepharoplasty lift can be performed. This goes through the inside of the lower eyelid and only removes fat to reduce eye bags. For those with more pronounced sagging skin or muscle, a skin/muscle flap lower blepharoplasty can be performed, moving the skin, muscle and fat from under the eye through an incision under the lower lash line. Fat transposition can be performed in conjunction with other procedures, removing fat from the lower lid and transferring it to the corner of the eye to soften the appearance.

Dr. Stong uses the most advanced techniques and methods to create exceptional results for his blepharoplasty patients. His attention to detail can create a natural appearance without any noticeable scarring or evidence of surgery. Blepharoplasty is one of the most popular facial surgeries requested by our patients due to the incredible results that Dr. Stong has obtained for our past patients.
