E’s ‘Botched’- Hit or Miss?

E! has announced that it plans to air a new reality show about botched plastic surgery.  The show will feature two plastic surgeons who we are already very familiar with from Real Housewife seasons, Dr. Terry Dubrow and Dr. Paul Nassif.  The duo will attempt to “fix the unfixable”- patients who have had surgeries go terribly wrong that require major correction.  Some critics are slamming the show as it focuses on bad surgical outcomes instead of good, and because it proposes surgery as the solution to fix the bad surgical mishaps.  Others are excited for the show, as it presents an exiting challenge.  Plus, we imagine that if Dr. Dubrow and Dr. Nassif are able to reverse botched surgeries, it will mean the world to their patients.

Dr. Terry Dubrow is a top plastic surgeon out of Newport Beach, and Dr. Paul Nassif is a renowned surgeon practicing in Beverly Hills.  Dr. Dubrow specializes in facial and general plastic surgery and was featured on the plastic surgery reality show The Swan in 2004.  Dr. Nassif is a facial plastic surgeon who specializes in revision and ethnic rhinoplasty.  Between the two surgeons, patients on the new show will have access to a plethora of expertise.

Double board certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon, Dr. Benjamin Stong, who is not affiliated with the physicians or show, stated, “I believe the concept for this new show is great.  In my practice, I see patients who seek revision plastic surgery after a poorly performed surgery, and it is absolutely life changing for them to have the result reversed.”  We couldn’t agree more, and we look forward to watching the show when it airs on E!

Plastic surgery is a growing field, with 14.6 million cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures performed in 2012.  Patients obviously hope to have a great result the first time they undergo a large cosmetic surgery or procedure, but unfortunately this is not always the case.  Luckily, revision options exist if a surgery has not gone as planned.  If you are considering having plastic surgery, make sure you choose an expert in the type of of surgery you wish to have performed to help ensure that the result is desirable.
