If you’ve recently received Botox, you can generally expect the effects to last three to four month – although results can differ from person to person.
If you’re looking for a few ways to extend the effects of your Botox injections, these tips may help:
- Protect your skin from sun damage. UVA and UVB are the biggest agers of our skin, and going out unprotected (even on cold or cloudy days) can work against your Botox treatments by encouraging the production of fine lines and wrinkles. Make sure your daily beauty routine includes a broad-spectrum SPF of at 30 to get the most benefits.
- Load up on water. Your skin needs to stay hydrated, just like the rest of your body. And there’s anecdotal evidence to support the fact that drinking the recommended 8 glasses of water per day can help skin to appear smoother, fuller, and younger.
- Try a zinc supplement. Some studies have shown that zinc supplements with enzymes may help prolong the effects of Botox injections. However, the scope of this research is still fairly small, and it’s always recommended to check with your physician before taking any type of dietary supplement.
