Alessandra Ambrosio is undoubtedly one of the world’s most beautiful women. She was named the “Sexiest Woman Alive” and we believe this title is very fitting for the Brazilian beauty. It is hard to believe she could be self conscious about any physical trait, but as it turns out, she has always been self conscious about her ears. When she was 11 years old and knew she wanted to become a model, she decided to have otoplasty, or ear pinning surgery, as she felt her ears “stuck out” too much. The operation was performed by a surgeon who, according to Ambrosio, had only done one other otoplasty surgery, so she was a “guinea pig” patient. The operation was not performed properly, and she required several surgeries over the next year to correct what had been done improperly. Now, she states she is “terrified” of getting more plastic surgery.
Ambrosio has said she is still self conscious about the appearance of her ears after surgery performed years ago. Apparently, other doctors have told her they can perform additional revision surgery, but she has chosen not to have any more procedures in fear that things will go wrong. After such a traumatic experience, we certainly understand her hesitation. When considering plastic surgery, patients should make sure they find a surgeon who is board certified and experienced in the surgery to be performed. This will help minimize the chance of something going wrong due to lack of experience or credentials on the surgeon’s part.
In our opinion, Alessandra is still completely stunning, and obviously was blessed with phenomenal genes. It just goes to show that even the world’s “Sexiest Woman Alive” has insecurities, and that no one is actually perfect! Dr. Benjamin Stong, who is not affiliated with Ambrosio, stated, “The last thing anyone would notice about Alessandra is her ears. It is unfortunate she had to go through the trauma of a poorly performed surgery. That’s why it is so important to find a plastic surgeon who is board certified, and who is an expert at the type of surgery the patient wishes to undergo.”
The truth is, otoplasty surgery can make a huge difference for people with protruding ears. Many young people who are teased by peers in school for having “big ears” choose to have the surgery, and it can make a world of difference. If done correctly, the result can be quite attractive, and will only enhance the patient’s other features.
